How do I remove a purple hue from my hair?Updated a month ago

A violet, rosé, or aubergine tint is caused by the cool, dark dye indigo, which is usually the result of incorrect application of the dye.

The most common cause is that no pre-pigmentation was carried out before dyeing with dark blonde, ash brown, dark brown, black, or pure indigo.

However, there are other causes: the dye was mixed too cold or not kept warm enough, interactions with styling and care products (monoxidil/Regaine or salt water are particularly noteworthy here), and color overlays if the hair was dyed too often.

It is best to try to wash out as much dye as possible using color removers:

To do this, first wash your hair with an alkaline shampoo, or even better a shampoo bar, then gently warm up coconut oil and/or olive oil in a water bath and apply the mixture generously to your wet hair. Leave it on overnight and shampoo as usual the next morning. You can repeat this treatment every few days, as it often takes several applications before you see a change in the result.

The violet appears slightly more neutral when neutralized with gold. For example, with Hint of Gold or Sunrise, each with a higher mixing temperature (approx. 60°C) and a short application time of 20 minutes. As these shades have a rather transparent appearance, regular applications may also be helpful here.
