ColorPrep is used as a pre-coloring when shades like Black, Blue Black, Dark Blond, Ash Brown, and Dark Brown are to be applied on gray or light hair.

Or when very light hair, such as bleached hair, is to be colored more than three shades darker.

A small exception is the shade Berlin Blond, which is cool but also very light, making Sunrise an excellent pre-coloring option.
