My scalp is a bit itchy after I have been using natural hair dye, what could be the cause for that?Updated a month ago

A slight itching sensation after applying the herbal hair dye is nothing to worry about, as the heat and the intensely effective herbs it contains stimulate blood circulation. In addition, the weight of the herbal hair dye can cause a slight “muscle ache” at the roots of your hair.

However, if you also experience redness, swelling, or a rash, you may be allergic to one of the ingredients—but only medically trained personnel can determine this. The risk of developing an allergy to herbal hair dye is significantly lower than with traditional dyes, but it can never be ruled out. If you suspect an allergy, it is best to stop using the dye.

If you are unsure, you can perform a patch test. To do this, mix a small amount of your shade and apply it to the crook of your arm or the skin behind your ear. Cover the area withcling foil, rinse off the mixture with clear water after 60 minutes, and observe the area for a day or two. If there is no reaction as described above, there is likely to be no allergic reaction. If a rash or redness occurs, you should contact a doctor in any case.
